Just A Typical Night

A Chapter by therisa
"

Nightlife, in my apartment.

"
My poor apartment
The little ones
Are bouncing off
The walls
Literally.

Dodging
A leaping Venus
As I try
To concentrate
On my writing.

Squeak
Whirling dervish
Chased a ball toy
Across the ceramic tiles
Until he discovers
The food dish.

Serenely
Star watches
From the counter top
Waiting her turn
To play
In the bathtub
With her paper balls.

If lucky
Will find my way
Into Morpheus' embrace
I hope.

As I wake up
Finding one or more toys
Beside me
In bed.

Sheesh.

"Sheesh," indeed. When I had cats, I often had similar situation. We have a great little dog now, but he's absolutely OBSESSED with his bouncy ball! He lost it the other day and has been positively MOURNING for it since! We've searched high and low for it and cannot locate the thing! Meanwhile, the dog mopes and keeps trying to tell us it's somewhere on the bookshelf. I've looked behind every row of books, behind and under… it's simply not there to be seen.

Oh, it's here somewhere. We'll stumble upon sooner or later. It hasn't left the house, after all.

When you are packing everything up, for the move. Never fails.

That's probably when we'll find it.
