Just A Typical Night
A Chapter by therisa
Nightlife, in my apartment.
My poor apartment The little ones Are bouncing off The walls Literally. Dodging A leaping Venus As I try To concentrate On my writing. Squeak Whirling dervish Chased a ball toy Across the ceramic tiles Until he discovers The food dish. Serenely Star watches From the counter top Waiting her turn To play In the bathtub With her paper balls. If lucky Will find my way Into Morpheus' embrace I hope. As I wake up Finding one or more toys Beside me In bed. Sheesh.

"Sheesh," indeed. When I had cats, I often had similar situation. We have a great little dog now, but he's absolutely OBSESSED with his bouncy ball! He lost it the other day and has been positively MOURNING for it since! We've searched high and low for it and cannot locate the thing! Meanwhile, the dog mopes and keeps trying to tell us it's somewhere on the bookshelf. I've looked behind every row of books, behind and under… it's simply not there to be seen.

It's just right for him to carry in his mouth (he's so adorable with his face full of ball!). And, it doesn't mark the walls when it happens to ricochet off them. We found it in a field. The ones we've purchased mark the walls, are a little too big and heavy for him to carry around, and he chews them up. He's had this one for over a year. The ones we've purchased have never lasted longer than a couple of months because he starts chewing chunks out of them. IDK what we're going to do. I'm not giving him the old balls we used to buy; we just painted because we're trying to sell our house; so, we can't have the walls being marked up. I've looked and cannot find anything like his lost ball among the doggy toys. I think the lost ball might be a handball or a racket ball, INS.

Possibly, a squash ball, Momzilla.

Guess, you mourn the ball passing, and hope to find one, like it, in the future.

Oh, it's here somewhere. We'll stumble upon sooner or later. It hasn't left the house, after all.
