Life's Paradox

Life's Paradox

A Poem by therisa

How do I share
What it felt like
To live your life
Knowing
It's a lie.

But feel powerless
In your ability
To stop this
When rejection is
The price paid
For being different.

Submerging your true self
During a time of crisis
Because society demands it
As the eldest "son".

Taking up
A mantle
Never meant for me
As anxiety and depression
Became a part of my life.

Until suicide attempts emerged
The only solution for me
"He" had to die
Before I could be
Reborn.

Funny
It was my family
Who pulled the trigger
Psychically killing "him".

Thus
Freeing me
Talk about irony.
