Let It GoA Poem by therisaLetting go of my anger and not holding on to it.The silence Of repressed rage And anger of a lifetime Is no more. Like water cascading From a breached dam It flows In it's destructive power. Unleashing A massive flood Upon an unsuspecting world Of repressed emotions And past hurts. Often Carrying me Away By the torrential currents As I struggle To find my footing. In overcoming Years of being taught Whether implicitly Or explicitly To stifle my emotions By society. As if I'm a monster Only meant To be seen And not heard By others. I want to scream "Listen to me My voice matters" To anyone Who can hear me. Starting a process That has changed me Both physically And mentally Over the past six years. In facing up To my past By telling it To "sod off" In the nicest of manner With a clear conscious. Before walking away Smiling To myself.
