HauntedA Poem by therisa
No matter
How hard I try There are ghosts Which I can Never exorcised. Forever Tortured by these memories Of mine. Seeing them Whenever My eyes are closed Whether awake Or asleep. Elevating my anxiety levels From Defcon 3 To Defcon 1 As my body becomes Super hypervigilance. Can hear My nerves scream "Red alert" And "battle stations" In response. Jumping From the slightest touch Any loud Or sudden noise. Like the cartoon cat With its claws In the ceiling. Viscous rumour has it My night's sleep Has joined The Whooping Crane On the Endangered Species List. Sheesh So much for An eight hour snooze.
