That Elusive Need

That Elusive Need

A Poem by therisa

Wave after wave
Of cold shivers
Spreads throughout
My body.

Even though
The temperature reads
23 degrees Celsius.

Covering me
In a thick layer
Of goosebumps
Several centimeters deep.

My body craves
The sweet embrace
That sleeps brings
To one's soul.

But I know
This won't happen
Any time soon.

No matter
What I wish or want
For myself.

Adding another day
To the debt
Destroying me
With each missed hour.

Bringing me
One step closer
To the final sleep
No one escapes
From.

I have forgotten the last time, I was able to sleep 8 hours, without interruptions or feeling tired afterwards.

Oh hun I do so feel for you, sleep deprivation is terrible. Makes it difficult to cope with life. Really hope you get some soon! Well expressed xx
