Modelling Raccoon's Mask

Modelling Raccoon's Mask

A Poem by therisa
"

struggling with insomnia.

"
Most normal people
Have long gone to bed
But I'm not normal
Far from it.

As tonight appears
To be another night
Where I can
Only dream of sleep.

Adding another 8 hours
To the growing total
That I owe.

Am scared
If I looked
At my sleep account
Morpheus' sand would bury me
Up to my neck.

Wonder
Does Morpheus charge
A rental fee
For all of His sand
I am storing?

Sigh.

It's sad
When you stop and think
An average cat spends
More time awake
Than I do asleep
On most days.

The title is a refer to the dark black circles that surround my eyes, which looks like the mask that surrounds the Raccoon, the North American cousin, of the Panda.
