On Borrowed Time

On Borrowed Time

A Poem by therisa
"

Extreme insomnia

"
Morpheus
What have I done
To anger you
So?

That you have abandoned me
In my silent suffering
Night after night.

As the circles grow
From a faint outline
To become
A raccoon's mask
Surrounding my eyes.

But I am not
A nighttime thief
Who works
In the dark.

Rather
A gentle soul
Seeking release
Shall you grant it.

Able to dream
Such dreams
My heart flutters
In the glorious rapture
Of pure bliss.

As my body
And soul travel
The long road
To health.

But I need you
Morpheus
To grant this wish
Of mine.

Please return
With your sands
Of sleep.

i just wrote what i feel . it s realy great trust me
Let me know if your pleading poetry with the god of dreams works....I'll drop him a line too. Felt this one, seems many poets are plagued by insomnia, must be all that creative zigzagging in our brains keeping us awake! Nicely pen'd therisa

Thank you, Frieda, and I will let you know, but not sure, if He will take it, as bragging on my part.. read more
