Game Of Thrones

A cautionary poem.

Beware

Of those wolves

Wearing sheep's clothing.

Who preach

A false message

Of hope and prosperity

To the people.

As they ride

Upon a wave of nostalgia

And better times

Which never existed.

Except

In people's memories.

Cloaking themselves

Under the mantle

Of "God and country".

Exhorting "family values"

By blaming specific groups

For the societal declined

Without addressing

The real issues.

Like the LGBT community

By calling them

Morally corrupt

And degenerative force

Within society.

As they play

Upon people's fear

Of the unknown

And anything different.

Making their existence

A legal excuse

To attack and kill them

Without worry or punishment

From the state.

While

The outside world watches

In utter horror

And powerless to act

For immediate change.

Except to protest

With minimal success

As the human rights abuse

Mount.

Creating a dictatorship

Under the cloak of legality

Of democratic elections

When none exist.

I really found this to be very powerful. Many evil things happen behind the cloak of governments because not all of us are good. The narrow mindedness of the naysayers is nothing more than a desperate attempt to validate their own choices and to protect the bubble of self-righteousness that they call home.
