A Myth Come To Life

A Myth Come To Life

A Poem by therisa
"

My struggle with mental health

"

Your re-emergence is

Like a Hydra

In my life.

Every time

I think I have slain

One of your heads

It reappears

Again.

More powerful

Than the last one

In attacking me

With your deadly venom.

Driving me

Down onto my knees.

My shield arm

Shredded to ribbons

By your vicious attacks.

Never mind

What happened

To my sword arm.

And my legs

A quivering mass

Of poisonous jelly.

Where

Once stood

Muscles.

Would be

So easy

To surrender

And face my doom

At your mercy.

Knowing

Death comes

In so many forms

Beyond the decaying matter

Of my physical body.

What an amazingly accurate description:
"Your re-emergence is
Like a Hydra
In my life.

Every time
I think I have slain
One of your heads
It reappears
Again." Fighting this thing time and time again is like a never ending battle. A reoccurring beast can only be fought so many times - without help. I had to ask for help (which I hated since I'm very independent and stubborn) but maybe now there is a glimmer of hope. A very well written poem, therisa, and another favourite of mine.
