Early Monday Morning Observations

Early Monday Morning Observations

A Poem by therisa
"

How my morning began.

"

Another broken night's sleep

For my exhausted body

As Star lays sleeping

By my side

The alarm clock displays

2: 48 am.

Gentle tugging

On a blanket

I cover Star

Restroking a dormant engine

As her purring grows louder

From a faint whisper.

Finding her paper ball

Gently place it

Between her paws

Awakening

A sleeping dynamo.

As a smile spreads

Across my face

Seeing the whirling dervish

Strike my bed

Re-arranging everything.

But I do not care

For this is

Quality time

Spent with a love one

Now resting

At the foot of my bed.

A warmly written poetic piece that made me smile. I suffer from insomnia, and I have two cats, so I can relate to this poem!
