The Value Of One's Self

The Value Of One's Self

A Poem by therisa

If I were

To pass away

In my sleep

What would be

My impact

Upon the world?

Have I made

Any difference

In a positive way

With the people

I have interacted?

Bringing light

During a time of darkness

And doubt.

Whether by

A simple word

Freely given hug

Or just listening to them.

Am

Not one

Who seeks justification

Upon a balance sheet

Of good deeds.

But reassurance

My life is not

A waste of time

Or space.
