Palm-planting time

In the years

I have spent

Upon this journey

Of mine.

I will never understand

Why people think

All transwomen are

Gay men

Before transitioning.

When the truth

Has never been

So far away.

Glorious reality is

The transcommunity reflects

Society's sexual diversity

Before and after

Transitioning.

What was once

Gay before

Is now viewed

As straight

And vice versa.

Or that

A simple pill taken

Just before bedtime.

Will instantly

Transform a person

Into their preferred

Gender.

A view

Expressed to me

By a city of Toronto

Welfare intake worker

Working downtown.

Whose office

Handles many transgender

Clients.

If such

A pill exist

Every transperson

Would be lining up

Outside that doctor's doors.

From the top

Of the Arctic Circle

To the southern tip

Of Australia.

Sigh.
