Another Brick In The WallA Poem by therisaHomophobia raises it's ugly head.Strange How an inanimate object Can bring back Those memories Which we rather Forget. Looking down At today's Toronto Star What I see Fills my eyes With tears. How Alaa Jarban's Honesty and inner truth Has placed him In harm's way Because he's gay. Never mind Alaa was one Of the faces During the Yemeni Spring Organizing the demonstrations. I understand How religion can blind Ordinary people Into hate filled creatures. Having myself Been a target Of such vileness When I came out By those Around me. But never Have I faced death threats Like Alaa has. Wish the words That I write Could change the world Into a more tolerant place For people Like you and I. But this is Only wishful thinking Upon my part. © 2013 therisa
