Until Next YearA Poem by therisaA mini heat wave after several weeks of unusually cold weather to end May.Sigh.
Another scorcher And kilometres to walk Before the sun's set Upon the day. As sweat pools Around my body In sticky wet clothes And a mop For hair. Fragments of Martha and the Vandal's song Heat Wave Swamp all other thoughts From my fried mind. Waiting for That magical day When my apartment's A/C is Freed from its winter shackles And turned on. But today is Just another day As I try to finish My running around Before the sun reaches Its zenith In the late May sky. After a month Of unseasonably cold And wet weather. Such Is Spring For southern Ontario. Never sure How the weather will be From one day To the next. As I bid adieu To this fair month On the calendar For another year. © 2013 therisa |
