De-Escalating The PainA Poem by therisaA rather sad sight Greeted my eyes Upon entry Into my local library. A post advocating End to social media's Homophobia On May 17th. The next frontier Which this bitter war Is being engaged. Except this time No one can see The faces of those Who cast their hatred About. Unlike My childhood years Where my homophobic bullies Stood before me As they hurled Their hateful slurs With their fists. For words hurt more Than sticks and stones As cuts and bruises Will heal. But The words reverb In one's mind Long after First exposure. Never quite Dying out In their ferocity To the victim's mind. © 2013 therisaAuthor's Note
