Removing One Set Of Chains

Removing One Set Of Chains

A Poem by therisa

Thought

I had seen

The last of you

Seven months ago.

When

I stopped taking

Cymbalta

Anti-depressant # 5.

That was

Until last Thursday

When you made

A surprise return visit.

Sideswiping me

As I lay helplessly

Trapped in bed

The past two days.

While you danced

Your victory jig

With wooden cogs

Upon my poor head.

Darn you

Migraine.

Even now

Feel you fighting

For dominance.

But

Not today

Shall you win.

Even if

I must pay

A heavy toll

Tomorrow.

For today is

A day of freedom

To be enjoyed

By me.

i like how you take the most un-poetic things and turn them into really good poems.
