Trigger

Trigger

A Poem by therisa

Images swirl

In my mind

Of a time.

Long lost

To the mist

Of my memory.

Brought forth

To the present

By an innocent sight

Or sound.

That most people

Would smile at

When heard

Or seen.

Flashing back

To a time

When life was

A painfully different

Reality.

Struggling to

Fight back

My body's urge

To drown itself

In tears.

Knowing

These flashbacks

Are recorded echoes

From the past.

Harmless

To hurt me

Again.

Most days, I am able to control it, Jacob, but Monday's events, just swiped my feet out from me.
