Turning My Cheek

Turning My Cheek

A Poem by therisa
"

Something I need to get off, of my chest.

"

You tell me

That I am

Too passive

For my own good.

In

Letting others run

All over me.

When

I should be

Putting my foot down

And saying

"No!".

Yet

You do not realize

The type of past

I have lived

Through.

Forced

To fight my battles

On a different ground.

As

My physical ability

Did not resolve

Things.

Where

Physical resistance

Only meant

Walking away

Black and blue.

As

The tears

Streamed down

My face.

Please

Do not mistake

My actions

For passivity.

Rather

Fighting on

A different scale.
