Adolescence Dreams

Adolescence Dreams

A Poem by therisa

Nightly
You enter
My teenage's
Dream.

A
Heavenly maiden
Motioning towards me
In a gentle gesture
Of help.

During
A tumultuous
And confusing period
Of my life.

Beyond
The normal angst
Experienced by
Your average teenager.

Where
Suicide attempts
And depression
Was the norm.

Yet
I refused
Your generosity
Out of fear
Of drawing
More attention
Towards myself.

In
Having learnt
Attention is
The code word for
More violence.

Please
I ask you
Oh heavenly maiden
Can you forgive me
For my ignorance?

Realize
Years later
You were
My subconscious.

Trying
To help me
In my healing
And self-acceptance.

As I
Fully embrace you
Now.
