Vanishing Act

Vanishing Act

A Poem by therisa
"

Working out some negative thoughts, at the time.

"

Small
Light flickered
Before her face
Etching the inner struggle
Upon her fragile body.

Tears
Of emotional
And physical abuse
Had left behind.

Where
Food had become
A weapon of mass destruction.

Alternating
Between binge eating
And periods of starvation.

Reinforcing
Already negative image
Of herself.

Like
A candle burning
At both ends

Slowly
Disappearing
From sight.

Until
Only a burnt out wick
Exist.
