Wandering Down Memory Lane

Wandering Down Memory Lane

A Poem by therisa
"

A very early morning write.

"

Find
My mind wandering
Down mental pathways
Long abandon
For various reasons
Today.

Stirring
The dust up
With my mental
Footsteps.

As
The trivia
And the sublime
Emotions and events
Come to the forth.

Like
The first time
I used my mom's lipstick
As a twelve year old
Feeling so very feminine
In doing so.

To
Seeing my Oma's smile
Beaming so proudly
For receiving
A history award
For grade 8 graduation.

Yet
Also stirring
Are darker elements
Which I prefer
To be totally erase
From me.

Like
The beatings
Which I received
From my childhood
Friends.

To
The very deep sense
Of isolation
For being an outsider
So different
From the other kids.

In
Wanting to be
A girl
Instead of
A boy.

Sigh.

As
The new day
Draws nigh
A daunting task
Faces me.

To
Restore order
That refuses
To go quietly
Into the night
Once more.
