Among The Shadows

Among The Shadows

A Poem by therisa
"

Thoughts, I had when writing this out.

"

Through
The Valley of Death
I have walked.

With
A body pockmarked
By self-inflicted wounds
And long healed scars.

My
Soul laid
A tattered
And ripped shroud
Upon my body.

Seeking
The one thing
Which I find
I am unable
To give to myself
Peace.

Where
Streams of bitter
Salty tears flow
By the banks
Of red irritated eyes.

Carrying
My hopes and dreams
Upon its slow
Moving current
Out to rivers
Which leads to
The Sea of Sorrow.

Yet
Somehow
A spark remains
Glowing.

During
My darkness of hours
When all hope appears
To have extinguished
Itself.

A
Beacon of light
In the wilderness
Of darkness
Guiding me
Back.
