Moment Of Truth

Moment Of Truth

A Poem by therisa
"

We, all face that moment, which we have to choose between surrender and death, or continue to fight for our lives.

"
Laying here
Upon a frozen bank
Of snow and ice.

Stained
A bright red
From the blood
Leaking from my stumps.

Which
Once housed
My wings.

For
I dared to soar
Where others
Avoid.

Seeking
Out sights
So long denied
To me.

Unlike Icarus
My flight did not end
Because my wings
Melted.

Rather
They were torn off
By those
Who believe
In societal conformity.

Punishing
Those
Who dared to
Step outside
Of their boundary.

Still
I struggle
To flight
Once more.
