Seeking Out The Foundations

Seeking Out The Foundations

A Poem by therisa
"

Questions that I have for myself.

"
Upon
My life journey
Into womanhood
These two questions
Have plagued me.

What
Does it mean
To be feminine?

Why
Did I not
Become an abuser
Myself?

Questions
I have posed
In various forms
To my friends.

Seeking
Understanding
And answers
To my true inner self.

Having
Grown up
In a past filled
With violence
Both physically
And verbally.

While
Avoiding the hideous trap
Of illegal drugs
And alcohol
To numb and cover
My pain.

pain is covered with many things...self loathing, accepting less then you deserve, never having the guts to ask the direct right questions, these things are all hideous traps themselves...shedding them is a gift it is the most wonderful fairy tale gift but it is a gift that you have to give yourself no wrapping no bows needed just the gift of a real life
and you should expect no less!this is a wonderful emotional piece of writing
