Evolution Of Therisa

Evolution Of Therisa

A Poem by therisa
"

How things have changed for me.

"

Changes
Counter-culture shock
Of a life
Started anew.

Of
Accepting
The difference
Which society reacts
To each gender.

Once
Where I was
The person
Who offered their seat
Am finding myself
On the receiving end
Now.

Other
Small things
Like elderly men
Holding doors open
Or letting me
Exit elevators
First.

In
My previous life
Was taught
As a sign of respect
By offering them
These courtesy.

Even now
Out in "boy" mode
Or what passes
As it.

Am
Greeted
The same way
Leaving a smile
Upon my face.

As
I realize
How far
I have travelled
Since 2006.
