Music

A Chapter by therisa
"

How it gets into one's soul.

"

Hear
Your siren's call
Drawing me
Near.

Slowly
Seducing me
With your spell
To the water's
Edge.

Pulling me
Deeper
With each note
Into your web.

Surrendering
My soul
Unconsciously
To your care.

As
My body moves
Hypnotically
To your rhythm.

Only
To awaken
With it's echo
In my soul.

Though I've heard some music... same music... over and over again, it still has the power to enter deep into my soul until the tears flow. These are the echoes of the siren's seducing call of which you so eloquently speak. Beautifully recalled.

Thank you, Ron, for your eloquent review of this poem.
To me the beach and the ocean are inspirational venues....they mesmerize and seem to pull thoughts out of my head. While I realize your poem is not about the ocean, but a metaphor, I enjoyed it on both levels. Wonderful. Lydi**

Thank you, Lydia. Sometimes, the music, I am listening to, just carries me, away.
I just found this! It is curiously funny when you try to explain the artistic in words and although your writing is a peaceful demonstration of how music unfolds and what is capable of it we let it. When confronted with the question what is music? There seems to be the tendency to inmediately go for :

"Stop questioning the obvious"

It seems to happen to me a lot. So after reading you writing again what music still offers that other artistic mediums may or may not have is the abhility to demark presence of mind in time. Because of its great helpers Harmony melody and rhythm . It creates an environment expressed in timbre texture and form just like your description as you felt moved....

Thank You.

This is a lovely thought on music and how we are affected by it (I have my own theory but its cold and scientific and doesnt belong here T).
Music has saved me so many times - and others on here too have declared the life-saving property of music.
A fine piece of poetry Therisa - thank you

I hope so, Anto.
very nicely done, we often are drawn into music, the pitch, the harmony and we live on notes, that change continuously, creating, and writing our song, our composition. Great write!!!!
