A couple of day ago Star stared going out with a great guy named Tom.

Star talking on the phone to a friend.

 

Star:”Tom thought about what it would be like if we did “it”.”

Her mother over hearing the whole thing thought she already did it.

 

Mother:” Have you and tom been having sex?”

 

Star:” Mother NO way I love him but he knows I want to wait.”

 

Mother:” Ok tomorrow when you come home bring Tom to the house, well talk about it then.”

 

Star:” Mom that’s not want I want to hear at this time.”

 

Most young adults don’t want their parents to talk about it.

 

Star:” Mother I’m home.”

 

Mother:” Ok, Tom do you want something to drink?”

 

Tom:” um no but thanks for asking”

 

Mother:” Ok were do we start?

 

Tom:” Let me think…. Nowhere.”

 

Mother: “It’s like this you see. The birds and the bees...”

 

Star: “Mom I think we’re too old for a talk like that.”

 

Tom:” Miss. Smith I know what your thinking and I’m not going to do it.”

 

Mother: “If you really want to have sex then use a condom.”

 

Tom: “Are you ok? First you tell us not to have sex then its all ok.”

 

Mother: “You two seem happy together and if I tell you guys not to do it then you will. You’ll go off some place and have sex and then I’ll get all mad so remember safety first.”

I like this. It's simple and to the point. a wonderful example of what parents should be doing, rather then clamming up and giving some long drawn out spiel that doesn't make any sence.

The tone of the characters came through strong. I feel that these kids were both rather mature in the first place. Most kids wouldn't have sat and listened to the mom, or even showed up. I wish the youth of today were more like the kids you portray here. Things would be all around better.

Sexual saftey is an important issue that seems to get glossed over in society. Thanks for bringing it back into the front. Hopefully people will see that honesty and being strait forward about it all, saves alot of grief in the end.
