The Stars Envy Me

The Stars Envy Me

A Poem by Laura Lay

The Stars, I envy them

As they take there place in the sky
Far from this tainted world that I despise

As they float across careless and free
For all unworthy eyes to see

As they shine and glimmer in the endless night
and I watch with hatred at their beautiful sight

Yet I always find myself thinking
That the stars are just like me

Yes they are beautiful,
but they are lonely you see

All those long nights
Alone with the dark frights

And the other stars they are different you see
She always stands out when she does the same

But she is still a star.

And on those endless nights, when their are no longer frights
She looks down on me

And I know that she and all the other stars
Envy me

Yes, they envy me
And envy them

The stars I fear, are just like me
