Automatic hero

Automatic hero

A Poem by Shannon

She sits and she waits

And she glares and sighs

At the metallic gates

At the graying skies

Waiting for something, for a song to play

Staring at nothing, ruing the day

So she rises and leaves

And so she drudges on

Till she becomes weak at the knees

From marching, dusk till dawn

Watch as she withers, alone and afraid

Hoping that he, was merely delayed

Listen to her now

Her sad silent song

As she wonders “How?”

“How did I go wrong?”

A knight in shining armor, is all she desired

But it turns out her knight, was long ago fired

So what do you do?

With not a hero in sight?

Do you discern what is true?

Do you cry till first light?

Or do you pick yourself up, to fight your own war?

You can save yourself, that’s what hero’s are for.

That is right... why wait for someone else when the strength is inside you all along... I love the message of the poem.
