InnwardsA Poem by ShannonShe wants to dance, she wants to fly! But she can’t she’s afraid she’ll die! With giggles and chuckles, and a remorseful sigh She goes from humming a tune, to sobbing a lullaby She strays from the paths, and wanders the woods She disguises her features, deep within hoods Do you know who she is? Do you know what she may feel? Did you know, she cannot discern fake from real? For she waltz’s with faeries, in her peculiar little way Always careful, always hidden, for the sake of the day Watch her eyes flash, from beneath shadowed satin Listen to her voice, murmuring in Celtic and Latin Is she speaking in tongues, or is she uttering prayers Or is she disclosing the location of secretive lairs Does she dream of heaven, or does she anticipate hell Who would know? For none truly know her well. Why does she hide, and why does she lie How can she win you, with the bat of her eye Does your heart go out to her? Can you feel her pain? Does she don fur? Does she feel rain?
You will never know, and neither will I If we never give our banished self, a second try. © 2012 Shannon |
