From burdens to lullabies

From burdens to lullabies

A Poem by Shannon

Raindrops on concrete
Turning it dark
Storm clouds shrouding blue skies
Shadowing the park
And you look and you grimace
at the ghastly weather you stand amidst
But perhaps its just fallen victim of a bias?
For you feel naught is amiss
For you know that surely
The rain has a place
As you watch the drops collect
And flow down the street, arace
And now you feel humbled
And now you feel at ease
By the silent patter of raindrops
Bounding off the trees

The calming effect
It now has on your mind
The lulling tone
that you've seemed to find
Between each beat of the raindrops
That dance down to earth
Swallowed up by the farmers crops
And the other various turf

And now the rain stops
And you furrow your brow
And mumble silently
"why did it have to end now?"

Truly a beautiful write. Your imagery used to relate to the rain, to give it more 'presence' is outstanding here. Feeling the translation of the person standing at first watching and regretting and then welcoming comes through in waves.
