Handsome Fire

Handsome Fire

A Poem by Shannon

Handsome Fire
Intriguing flame
Whats there to do
who is there to blame
none and all
so dance and dance
Spit out the lines
Spin the trance
Feel the earth
as you sing and sway
Kiss the wind
Revel the day
Stomp out the beat
Of a thousand throbbing hearts
And weave through the street
Playing the million parts
Of a one man orchestra
In the cathedral of Rome
And sing and sing
Till you come home
And when you arrive
Feel the rain
That pours upon your head
And feel it run
As you lightly tread
listen to the clouds
As they tussle and clash
listen to the collisions
Of their arguments  so rash
And watch the lightning
As it strikes forth from the sky
Sparking a fire in the distance
Pleasing to your eye
Handsome fire
Intriguing flame
Writhing higher
By circular name

Great write. I like the personification you use here. Mixing characteristics of traditional fire with human traits. "Feel the earth
as you sing and sway
Kiss the wind
Revel the day
Stomp out the beat
Of a thousand throbbing hearts
And weave through the street"
My favorite little section. But I must say overall there is soooo much thrown at the reader it is difficult to pinpoint any one thing. You have once again captured an enormous range of emotion and painted a vibrant picture with dozens of underlying songs here. Great job!
