Collateral Damage

Collateral Damage

A Poem by Shannon

Cathedral implosion'
One shot to the heart
three little words
To tear them apart

Collateral Damage
A single blow
To loosen their grip
And they'll let go

Paper-cut Catastrophe
One little slice
And its all over
Isn't that nice?

Duct tape dilemma
Rip off a length
Shut her up
You'll need extra strength

Advil Liquid Gels
For the pounding in your head
Their railing and screaming
Making you wish you were dead

Truthful charade
Making you wish you had said "yes"
instead...

Powerful write. You win this round. I like the use of common items to invoke a sense of realism and placing the reader without a lot of overt descriptives.
