What is a Heart?A Poem by Shannon
What is a heart?
Is it a key element? A crucial part? A flower petal Wafting in the breeze? Waiting to be caught By whomever it may please? A singing canary Perched high in a tree? Bright colored feathers For all to see? Or maybe a forgotten balloon Rising and rising out of control Because someone let it go Relinquishing it as a whole? Eventually falling Down Down Down Like a child with skinned knees Tears in their eyes An innocent glimmer hidden beneath Behind the hurt and pain An innocence to rival the rain So is our heart like the rain? Surrounding those close enough to feel its effect Drenching, cleansing, bringing life iridescent drops falling chaotic and perfect But what if our hearts become cold? Does that make them snow? Individual problems drifting around our conscious Some that others do not know? And if there are those parts that no one knows Then is there extra love to give That no one ever really shows? © 2010 ShannonReviews
