Flood Gates

Flood Gates

A Poem by Shannon

Blockade the flood gates
That held back the tears
Swelling and building
After all these years

And no one wonders why
Why they've never seen a tear
Why they've never seen her cry
Why she holds nothing dear

But is she even capable
Or is she made of stone
Is her pain escapable
Or is it to close to home

Whats happened to her emotions
If she has any left
After making a devotion
To someone who left a hole in her chest.

Once again a powerful piece. A painful experience in the form of poetry. A perfect way to vent. Amazing.

I loved the rhyme scheme of this piece and I thought that it flowed wonderfully.

Excellent poem. I think I know where this is coming from but I am the exception that proves the rule. Heart break can make us stronger if we choose to channel it.

The rhyming in this poem was very clever.
I also liked the analogy between flood gates and the resistance to crying.
It is a good heartbreak poem.
