I stitched a gown
Of spiderweb lace And dusted black glitter On my hair and face At the howl of the wolf The bats gave chase And the flutter of wings Set my heart a-race I ran with the moon And danced with the stars Keeping beat on hallowed ground Far from home sand cars But the sight of a man Set my blood afire And carried my evanescent joy a trifle higher He called me a goddess I called him a liar As we danced together In our graveyard empire © 2010 ShannonReviews
