A missing lullabyA Poem by ShannonIts snowing, and i do so miss the songs of the birds.
Glittering crystals, shimmer to the ground
Painting the landscape a brilliant white spreading its frigid embrace all around ceasing the birds from taking flight How i miss their haunting songs That sweet mourning melody I pity them, for they do no wrongs yet when the weather changes they flee taking with them every bit of delight Oh how i wish to hear they're lullaby On this chilled winter night To rise with the sun, to listen and sigh To these sweet angels sing they're lullaby The crows in the trees And the robin, with red chest And the white feathered dove Who's coo's i love the best Though i may try and try with all my might No amount of wishing could bring me my lullaby tonight. © 2010 Shannon |
