Songs of SilenceA Poem by Raunak Agarwal
How grateful,
How serene, Oblivious of the compulsion to chatter, Pious, honest, simple, clean. Notes of the ambience, Lyrics of my thoughts, The humming of the present, Art of the dots... But the yester keeps on distorting my song, For it yearns the posterity to undo its wrong, And I consciously shun my sub-conscious me, Unconsciously that makes me see. But Oh! You see not the humble me, That should be proud of what we be, And paint my dots with the blackish ink, To clean the slate, and then go blink. But no! Not today! Not now! Not everyday! I will not allow you to be over me, I want to rejoice in this silent spree, And hurry I shout to this wealth of nothing, The lock to which, only I be the key. These songs so pure, devoid of noise, The ones I seek, all full of poise, Naked tones, no garb of words, Thoughts alone, providing voice. I wish I could spend more time with you, Appreciate you more, more me I brew. But I fear not you, but the voice of me, Coz the ugly world, it makes me see. But run I can't, shouldn't you run too, This silence is power, power of you!
