They're Coming

They're Coming

A Poem by therage
"

A poem about post traumatic stress disorder and the horror of haunting memories

"

I thought I was safe in here,

thought I'd escaped to the sane,

but oh how wrong was I

all my efforts simply  in vain.

Each night I run into shadows

in hope of finding some light

but that is a silly philosophy

participating in a losing fight.

I am lost in the darkness again

waiting to be devoured and slain

but all these haunting monsters

are masks for my psychological pain.

Each night I'll run, but never escape

memories are just meant to be

so I'll rest my weary head right here

and just let them come destroy me.

Very smooth and flowing poem, it cuts to the point and leaves your imagination to go walk the road you wanted it to follow. It's just at the end it felt like you gave up and wrote two generic lines that doesn't quite fit... no offense meant.

this is extremely chilling. and yes, the picture does match the poem very well. I like the way you are so distraught & melancholic; it really makes for a good atmosphere when reading it. I like the last stanza especially, really intense. Great poem!

Love this poem, love your different and honest outlook on painful memories. Great rythm too :)

Very well written. The rhyme is great. The words are haunting. Keep up the great work.
