Good morningA Poem by Pooja PatelAn imagined morning
I shut my eyes
and imagine finding myself chest to chest, breath to breath waking up lost in you while the scorching sun plays peek-a-boo with the drapes, trying to warm our toes, which peek out from under the wrinkled bedsheets. Our shoulders meet, as if a shy kiss on the cheek, greeting each other like awkward, boney strangers. And your legs braid themselves around mine, like ribbons decorated with soft hairs that tickle me awake from my dreams. My body feels light, my eyes heavy with visions, while your tongue speaks to mine about last nights sour skittles; the sweetest bliss. I bury my face in the gentle hallow of your neck to take shelter from the demons I went to bed trying to escape; safe and free from the burdens of living. I lay in solace knowing tomorrow, and every other morning waking up with you is falling in love over and over again every time the sun rises. © 2017 Pooja Patel |
