Take me as I amA Poem by Pooja PatelA poem about coming undone. A poetic plea for raw acceptance.
Strip me
of socially prescribed beauty,
creams to conceal my scars, my stories. Rid me of my riches. Will you take me empty? Filled with sorrow, dressed in hope, adorned with good intentions? Disrobe me of temporary illusion, my youth, my flowering body, Take my wilting truth. Clear me of my name, who I was, who I am, who I am destined to be. Embrace me, open armed; a star-crossed dreamer born to become cosmic ash or a forgotten sleeper six feet under. Take me raw Take me whole Take me tainted Take me as I am. © 2017 Pooja PatelReviews
