Finger paintingA Poem by Pooja PatelA short poem about a woman who fails to recognize her true beauty on her own, and needs a man's validation in order to feel worthy. She rests her preoccupied mind late evenings in the arms of a man she hardly knows. He translates the curve of her body like a trained linguist, tracing his cigarette stained fingers across the delicacy of her spine, as if to play connect the dot. Gently he sketches a hollow picture. She lays helpless, wondering just what he has created, secretly hoping it’s a work of art; fingers like brazen flames across her tainted canvas. © 2017 Pooja PatelReviews
