Morning Ritual

Morning Ritual

A Poem by The Refined Poet
"

The morning routine can make one ravenous

"
I woke up this morning in a foul mood.
I don't know why I got out of the bed!
I walked in the bathroom with lights glaring.
I was shocked by the mirror's reflection.

I pondered my appearance: teeth and hair.
I concluded my best days were now past.
I moped through my home, hating the decor.
I mused with grief about my day's chores.

I considered family and my "friends."
I loved them, yet tired of their drama.
I sat at the table in dark despair.
I devised painless ways to end it all

I dispelled in a moment these feelings...
I had my morning cup of fresh coffee.

Laughing because I know that feeling so well, although, in fact - it takes me two coffees. Come to the conclusion that 'bewilderment' is my wake-up call, the coffees are the answer! Many thanks for sharing.
