I could bottle every swirl of your breaths in my heart.
Kisses like bandaids on fresh scars;
I knit my fingers into moments
weaving a memory
to keep me warm in lonesome hours
elongating twice with each breath,
I draw you closer
slower,
sweating under conditioned air
you taste of dying stars falling on me
upon my wish
for me,
to the afterlife and beyond.
I was told by a friend that opening the poem with that sentence is kinda odd and it should be somewhere in between the lines...
I still went on with it anyways because it felt sorta right for me to start from there, like picking a figment of memory while I reminisce their effect on me.

I suppose there is nothing like a fresh love or the enduring memory of the good times of a past love to heal our scarred hearts. Fresh love is the ultimate healer and wrapping ourselves in blankets of memories keeps us warm in our bereft moments of loneliness.
Tasting of dying stars is an originally interesting image and I enjoyed my read here today.

And hearing the second time, this phrase 'you taste of dying stars' came up with my musing over wishing upon a falling star and I just knew my lover has to be a personification of it and it felt really magical finishing it off with that metaphor.
This review made me a lot happy and am glad to know you enjoyed the poem, I value these words a lot ❤️
Oh, the stunning visual detail in this sublime write simply stole my heart away. You convey how memories are your companions during "lonesome hours" and draw your loved one closer to you with a firm desire as well as a looking forward to, meeting once again your loved one when you are both in Spirit (the afterlife). I've read the poem four times so far and know I will return to it again, it is simply a finely crafted gem, dear P.V. It flows so easily, rolls off my tongue as I read out loud and it is expressed with such a depth of feeling, it is breathtakingly beautiful! For me, it has a spiritual flavour also, dear P.V. The poem is deeply meaningful and I truly love it. Thank you so v-e-r-y much for sharing. Amazing crafting, dear poetess...

I'm so grateful to you my friend for taking your time to read this, this piece is close to my heart and am happy to have your review on this. I wish you a lovely time ahead!

I agree 110% with everything you say in your response to my comment. We all search for our Soulmate, dear P.V. That person is the other half of ourselves in a different body and when we are united with them... I can only imagine the result! I walk a spiritual path in this lifetime and am truly at peace and happy with that. Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful greetings and I too, wish you a very lovely evening ahead, dear poetess...

I have started poems with questions before. It seems fine to me. The beauty in poetry is it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. That is how I came up with my username on here lol
I loved this poem from start to finish. Weaving a memory to keep the loneliness at bay is so relatable and I have conjured up a memory or two to help on those not so great days. I truly like the line about the taste of falling stars.
It makes me think of a love that has past but still the unique and etched feeling remains long after the relationship has died.

Perfectly true, I don't like to hear comments about the structure of the poem, because it is always beautiful however we start it or end it, because it always makes us feel something and that's that. I too review poems and when I have to point out something it usually is about the grammar especially the tenses that play a huge role in the flow of poetry but never about its structure unless I'm writing in a certain form of poetry.
And you related the reference to 'dying star' very well I must say, my meaning with writing was to inflict both the stark beauty of the lover's heart and the melancholy of its departure, even for a few while :3
I'm very glad to learn you loved this poem, your review is very encouraging and beautiful, I value it a lot dear poetic soul ❤️

PV,
Hmmm... It's YOUR voice, your poem...they go where you put them.
And you have done a brilliant job of capturing the loss of self when drowning in love so deep, so wide, so strong, that it feels like sinking into a buoyant cloud, and held there forever... warm and at home, forever.

That line is mind blowing. My compliments to you again Muskaan.
You're most welcome.
