My scars found poetry when they found no warm embrace.
Cold flames douse my heart
painting pages with ruddy blue
bleeding to let go.
I could lie to the mirror, the scars
peering back owe no explanation,
yet mask a glimmer to fool those who will slash me deep within.
I have stitched them, but splitting back open they dig new gashes, I would pull two ends close together which weren't supposed to touch, and the result, I tore and tore myself.
And if you think I died, maybe, I told you the rose was buried, but its remains still mark, its scent yet alive that breaks through the pages, infusing in air filled with dust and sighs I couldn't keep.
But the more I wrote, the more beauty emerged, and those stitches were replaced with embroideries I could look over and over and then smile despite a tear daring to fall from the corner of my eyes.
If I tell you, poetry beautifies your scars, would you heed me? Give the flower you stash in that journal a chance and all those souvenirs you hide from your sight.
I say a resounding YES to giving the poetry in those roses, a chance. This poem resonates very deeply with me because it was one such heartbreak that turned me to poetry and writing in 2011. The scars had stitches that kept popping just as you so beautifully described and now they're embroidered just as you said. And that's why I loved this poem, so much! ❤️

Wishing you a lot of love, dear Divya ❤️

This is a truly amazing allegoric gem, dear P.V. I love how you express your inner feelings through your poetic words and embroider each word in order to provide your reader with the full picture of your feelings, their depth, their beauty, their sadness. I love how you choose to use a facial glow to fool those who would hurt your further, it is something we women are prone to do and thank God we are strong enough to do so. So many times in life we tear ourselves and punish ourselves for what others do to us. Their act may be buried within us, but it never dies, but remains a memory which will always bring a teardrop to our eye as we remember and recall what happened. We deserve so much more than we receive in the name of love! I truly cannot fathom how some people live with themselves, dear P.V. I love how you have the extraordinary ability to turn each cut into a beautiful rose to beautify the scars. Love for ourselves, in an unselfish way, is so vitally important because when we love ourselves enough we will never again allow another human being to inflict injuries which are psychological, emotional, physical or spiritual on us! A very empowering poem, dear P. V. Kudos well deserved on penning this exceptional write which I can both identify with and which I love so much. Admiration too, my dear friend. Well done!

''But the more I wrote, the more beauty emerged, and those stitches were replaced with embroideries'' I am on short of words to appreciate the beauty of this poem, dear Muskaan. I am sorry for whatever pain you went through but look at the good side, beautiful beautiful lines took birth from those scars. I completely agree with you. Poetry does beautify the scars. My answer is YES to the last line.
Please be happy, my friend. I wish you all the best. Loved this incredible poem! ❤️
