I've Forgotten How to Forget You

I've Forgotten How to Forget You

A Poem by Ellen C
"

You're Capitalized, i'm lowercase

"
i haven't seen You since last month, i say i'm fine
but it feels as it years have elapsed, and You never knew
i've thought of You at all times
i can't forget You

i see You every hour,
every minute, So? it's true
that like old memories you make me feel sour
i can't forget You

And even though i always forget my car key
even though i always leave the garage in full view
and when i think of You i forget to breathe
i can't forget You

I guess your words are permanently etched behind my eye
and though i see You in every night sky
You forget me
and i cant remember how to forget You

Author's Note

Ellen C
written for the boy i currently like whom hasn't texted me or contacted me all summer (he was occasionally before school ended). my response has been to focus on my art and SAT scores... nevertheless it hasn't worked. he's larger than life and popular and i'm precisely the opposite. i hate writing poems that rhyme but he's a rhyming poem type of guy...
