Do You Remember?A Poem by theopenbooksometimes love is forever:)Do You Remember? I saw you walking down the hallway Your hair like a dark curtain around your face I wondered how nice it would be If the hallway would be just empty. Because then I would gently wipe away That despair from your eyes And lift that veil Behind which you manage to hide. And I would say- Do you remember? When we were twelve You made snow angels with me Do you remember that Christmas night? When I stole your favorite star from the Christmas tree Do you remember? The day passes like everyday And I wonder if today’s the day to tell you And every time I try to get closer You smile and push me away And i say to myself- Do you remember? When we were fifteen When I suddenly realized that you aren’t the girl you used to be Do you remember? When you slowly started to slip away How your eyes forgot to sparkle And you built that wall around yourself Do you remember? So I slip a letter into your bag Pouring out my soul And hoping you would realize my love And let our hearts be whole. When I saw you next day My letter was in your hands Your eyes were still dimmed And all the disbelief the held. And I asked you- Do you remember? When we were nine And my friends made fun of you That day I had looked into your eyes And childishly, had said that you were mine. Do you remember? You shake your head Trying to clear your filled eyes I draw you close and hope That you won’t say goodbye. Do you remember ?i murmur You pull away and look at me for a million heartbeats true And slowly you whisper “I do” © 2011 theopenbookAuthor's Note
