Secondhand Love

Secondhand Love

A Poem by theolivedove

Written November 30, 2015.

"
I want us to start over
Pretend like this is the first time
Bury the shards of regret and throw away what we can't recycle
Fingertips dancing along the outline of old scars
Tease me with those tired eyes and tell me to let you in
I change the locks but you don't even need a key
Slip in through the cracks as I board up the doors
"Where have you been?"
I've been empty for so long
Make it count now
Don't give me secondhand love

I think that this is your best poem I read so far,
So much pain behind your simple words,
Wish no one ever feel like he or she a secondhand love,
I love your lines:

I change the locks but you don't even need a key
Slip in through the cracks as I board up the doors

It felt to me like you are talking about your Heart here

Oh, this was so well explained and expressed. Fingers dancing on the outline of scars, not needing a key -slipping through the cracks. Golden. Plus, the title it brought me here. Tyfs

About
I knew I loved writing when I was 8 years old. I continued writing off and on as I grew up, and then life got messy. I lost my voice, so I'm trying to find myself again. more..
