My One True Love

My One True Love

Those eyes
Deep and sullen like the forest on a rainy day
The ones that glisten when the sunlight hits them just right
When you pull me close and gaze into mine
And I feel the breath leave my lungs
It's only you

Those lips
Soft and alluring, whispering my name in moonlit darkness
The ones pursed around a Marlboro Red as we cruise downtown
And you turn to me and say, "I love you"
I knew in that moment
I would never be the same

Those hands
Gentle but strong, warm to the touch, caress me under Sunday's bedsheets
The ones that dance gracefully along piano keys like a midday summer breeze
Our fingers laced together, butterflies in my stomach
And I wonder why you picked me
But I'm glad that you did

Because I know these things for sure
Across a room full of strangers
My eyes will always search for you
Before each morning sunrise
My lips will always crave your kiss
Whenever I need reassurance
My hand will always reach for yours

You are my one true love

About
I knew I loved writing when I was 8 years old. I continued writing off and on as I grew up, and then life got messy. I lost my voice, so I'm trying to find myself again. more..
