Hope

Hope

A Poem by Pushkar Prabhat

====Hope====

Children....

Innocent, obviously

Cause children

Have no dreams.....

The all they have

Is curiosity.

And there, everything begins.

One curious thought......

One fantasy dream.

And a lifetime, to be

Consumed by the poison of hope.

Delusions,

Are treated,

Clinically as disease.

By definition, dreams,

Should be nipped in the bud.

Dreams feed you hope

And hope, makes you weak....

Cause hope:

Is like people.

And people disappoint,

Betray,

Die.....

People could be hurt,

Raped,

Murdered.

And people kill.

Still, they are always there;

Just around the corner.

And almost always,

Don’t accompany.

But children don’t know s**t.

Just curiosity guided will.....

So the dreams bait.....

And they always step into

Adulthood, tasting the poison.....

I have been poisoned......

It is finished in whatever the way it is. I guess this is the other side of the happy endings where hope does not fulfil its seed. Children are curious little things and hope is what keeps them burning bright. I agree with Julie.
It seems true when you say it's a 'poison', like all the things people slather in negativity because they cannot understand or agree with. Like a test or a difference in opinion. Hope loses it charm when the faith and belief stops and it rears its ugly head as a poison, children become adult and hopeless.

So what do you think it is, a sickly sweet slowly consuming nectar or a sour path of challenges to have a breath of life? =) A curious write!

Yes, line 5 doesn't need 'the' , and is line 3 'cause as in because?

Interesting, hope, is bad? For it only lets us yearn for the unattainable.
Or with hope, anything can be achieved?
Fu***d if I know!

what an infection. I say, infect me away. I want to cling to this ridiculous thing that defies all logic, all scientific probability called hope.

I think like Aaron the 5th line does not need The, it works better without it and i agree with Julie it feels just right, children need their dreams and fantasies and its sad today that people want to make them grow up to fast, imposing adult ideas into their heads before they need to, as you say they have been poisoned and i'm sad if you feel you are poisoned too but it seems to me your a great poet so i think your gonna be ok :)
